Your information at Scout & Gold.

Reports and saved pieces

Scout Reports, Shortlist selections and recent Hunt information are stored in your browser. They may be visible to anyone using the same browser profile. They do not automatically sync across devices. Clearing this site’s browser data removes these local records.

Listing screenshots and searches

When you submit screenshots, the images and listing details are sent to our server and OpenAI to extract jewelry information. The extraction request uses OpenAI’s store:false setting; this does not mean that all provider processing or security retention is disabled. Avoid uploading personal, payment or account information. Searches and listing details may be sent to marketplace, search and pricing services to retrieve relevant information. Some listing and market results are cached on our server.

Shared reports

Sharing is optional. Creating a shareable link stores a read-only report copy and any images you select on our server. Anyone with the link can view it without signing in. Links expire after 30 days and can be turned off sooner from the browser that created them. Clearing that browser’s data removes the early-revocation control. Expired or revoked links stop serving the report and images; expired stored copies are removed during later cleanup. Copies saved by recipients cannot be recalled. Review screenshots and report details for personal information before sharing. Collection Fit, Shortlist and browser history are not included.

Contact and retailer forms

We store the information you submit, including your message and any contact or business details, in our hosted database so we can review and respond. Notifications are sent through Resend to hello@scoutandgold.com. Submissions and notification emails are not currently removed on an automatic schedule.

Operational safeguards

We keep daily service request and failure counts for up to 30 days. You can use Scout and Hunt without signing in. A functional cookie containing a random visitor identifier lasts for one hour and helps apply request limits. Request limits use an hourly changing hash of that identifier or, if you are already signed in, your account identifier. Raw visitor identifiers, account identifiers and IP addresses are not stored in those counters. Hourly limit records expire after two hours and are removed on later requests. Failed email-notification references and outcomes are retained for up to 30 days; provider acceptance does not establish inbox delivery. These functional safeguards run independently of optional usage analytics.

Feedback can optionally include the page you were viewing. Query strings and fragments are excluded. Uncheck the page-reference option if you do not want to include it.

Optional analytics

Exclude this browser from analytics or check its status. Set the preference separately in each browser. It is saved in browser storage and a functional preference cookie for up to one year. Clearing site data resets it. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control disable analytics regardless of this setting. Analytics exclusion does not prevent research API charges.

Our first-party analytics record page categories, completed new Scout reports, existing report openings, completed Hunts, shortlist saves, comparisons and seller clicks. They do not include uploaded images, listing text, full URLs, report identifiers, email addresses or messages. Social attribution uses only allowlisted source, medium and campaign labels; arbitrary query text and full referrers are not stored.

A random tab-session token groups activity until 30 minutes of inactivity. It is not an account identity or a unique-person count. The server stores only a hash, retains session associations for up to eight days and duplicate-event receipts for two days, with cleanup during subsequent collection. Daily aggregate counts remain for up to 90 days. Recognized tests are separated from customer totals. Unknown automation and testing from browsers that have not opted out can still appear. Historic testing cannot reliably be removed.

Cloudflare Web Analytics

Cloudflare’s optional beacon measures safe marketing pages on scoutandgold.com. App navigation and private report pages are measured with generic first-party labels instead, so report URLs do not go to Cloudflare. The beacon can send page, referrer and performance information; no custom visitor identity or form fields are attached. It respects the browser exclusion preference, Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. Staging, preview and recognized automated browsers do not load it. A deliberate /analytics-check visit can test delivery and must be filtered out when reviewing Cloudflare customer totals. Cloudflare and first-party visit definitions differ; neither measures unique people or purchases.

Hosting and external services

Our hosting and service providers process requests to operate the site and may keep their own operational or security logs. The usage-count limits above apply to our usage feature, not every provider’s logs. Seller links take you to external sites with their own privacy practices.

Questions or removal requests

Email hello@scoutandgold.com to ask about your information or request removal of a submission. Include enough information to locate it, but do not send passwords or payment details. Server-side removal does not clear copies saved in your own browser.
